SEL Demonstration Challenge

This phase of the Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Challenge focused on demonstrating how the Preparing Youth to Thrive content, training, performance measures and practices can be integrated into youth serving organizations across the country to improve SEL practice. Five afterschool system partners with local, statewide and national reach will participate in partnership with David P. Weikart Center for Youth Program Quality over the course of the year. The organizations include School’s Out Washington (Seattle)Sprockets (St. Paul)After-school All Stars (Los Angeles)Beyond the Bell (Milwaukee) and Wyman. The initiative culminated in the release of case studies that highlight the process of how each organization integrated the social and emotional learning supports. Read the case studies here.

The supports include the performance measures as adapted from the Preparing Youth to Thrive: Methodology and Findings from the SEL Challenge, as well as training and coaching with the SEL Challenge Ambassadors.
